Legendary basketball coach Pete Carril was the guest speaker Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, at a
meeting of the Reading Chapter No. 61 of the Order of AHEPA (American
Hellenic Educational Progressive Association). Coach Carril spoke about
his days as head coach of the Reading High School Red Knights
(1958-1966), his glory days as head basketball coach at Princeton
University (1967-1996), where his teams won 514 games, and his time as
an assistant coach with the NBA's Sacramento Kings (1996-2002). Pictured above is Coach Carril with Chapter President George Giovanis, with Gust
C. Kraras, and with Harry Dialectos. The dinner/meeting was held at the
Deluxe Restaurant in Shillington, Pa. The AHEPA Chapter made a donation
in honor of Coach Carril to the Olivet Boys & Girls Club of Reading,
Pa.
